The bed was incredibly comfortable; I think I slept better those two nights than I had in weeks. There is a lot of street noise, sirens, loud people, etc., though they provide ear plugs and I had my little sound machine, so I was immune to the city noise. I had some pre-anxiety about having to share a bathroom, and I was definitely overthinking it; it was not a big deal at all and the facilities were very clean. The whole place feels intimate and welcoming as opposed to a commercial hotel with no personality. I loved it and would definitely recommend to anyone, especially solo travelers. The walls are thin and the wood floors are creaky, but I didn’t even know there were children across the hall until I saw them leaving. Will stay again when going to Astoria!

I love the old style and location of the Commodore. When I stay there, I am experiencing Astoria in its original form, and am right in the middle of where everything happens in town. There are beautiful shops and cafes all around, and though I was there for work, being at the Commodore made me feel like I was on vacation. There is something much more inspiring about staying in a small, local and historical hotel rather than one that is large corporate. The staff is also so accommodating and kind. I love everything about the Commodore, even the shared bathroom and shower, small room and thin walls. All of it seems to connect me to the place and the people, and experience what things were like in the past. I look forward to the next time I will stay there!

Cozy boutique hotel with clean rooms. The essentials were available. Great towels, clean bathrooms. Windows open up to the street outside allowing for air circulation and the experience of the life in this small town. Ceiling fans have been added. Some rooms use a shared bathroom which is clear in the room description. The new owners are working on upgrades and being in a vintage hotel comes with some differences from modern amenities.

This hotel is right downtown in historic Astoria. Because of that, there is city noise if you elect to leave your window open, but the room comes with disposable earplugs). The public trolley line is two blocks away and there are restaurants all around the hotel. I had a small (very clean) room with a comfortable bed and chair and the room includes a sink. The bath and shower are shared and both were very clean and easy to use. (The shower was very good). My front desk clerk was pleasant and helpful regarding the hotel and surrounding area. This room experience is similar to staying in a McMenamins Hotel, albeit without a tavern.

Location has good access to food and shops nearby (affiliated cafe downstairs), with close proximity to major roads in and out of town. Friendly staff and welcoming environment, with clean facilities. Easy access to the building afterhours, and I was able to get my key despite showing up much later than I expected. Nearby street parking was free overnight through 11AM; plenty of spaces.

It was completely by chance that I decided to stay for a night in Astoria. It seemed to be in a good location on my way from Portland via the coast to Seattle. I did not know that Astoria was such a cute, unusual town and the hotel fit right in. Built like almost all of the still existing older buildings in town after the fire of 1925...despite having been boarded up for quite awhile, the owners and the ones before them took a lot of care in preserving as much of the original stuff as possible and to retain the character of the place. The room was very comfy and clean and even had an old pencil sharpener (hilarious, surprising piece of nostalgia) mounted on the wall - just as in my school days of the 70s. The hotel cafe/bar was great, too (owned and run by the same people). The evening I stayed they had a free, "round robin style" concert with three singer/songwriters from Austin, Seattle and Portland. Each played two songs and then the next artist was on. The owners and manager take great pride in the place and it was a great short stay. Small, local businesses like these should be supported - so go to the Commodore Hotel in Astoria!

The design is gorgeous - love reading more about the history of the building and the work that was done to restore it. The shared bathrooms were also extremely clean and had amazing water pressure.
